Pile-driven Ground Mount System: An Overview
A Pile-driven Ground Mount is a solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting solution where structural metal posts (typically C-sections, H-beams, ZAM steel, or hot-dip galvanized steel) are driven directly into the ground using specialized hydraulic piling machinery. It is widely recognized as one of the most cost-effective, efficient, and reliable mounting solutions for commercial and utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects.
Key Advantages: No excavation or concrete required; immediate load-bearing and fast installation; high wind/snow resistance through soil friction; eco-friendly and easily removable.
Best Suited For: Normal to dense soils (clay, sand, loam); widely used in utility-scale, agrivoltaic, and desert solar power plants (not ideal for hard rock or loose quicksand).
Common Materials: ZAM Steel (self-healing cut edges, high corrosion resistance) and Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel (HDG, 25+ year service life).
