1. Tile Hooks

• Installation: Installers first identify suitable tile seams or gaps to insert the hooks. After gently sliding the hooks into position, they are tightened to provide a firm hold. The number of hooks per panel depends on factors like the size of the panel, the pitch of the roof, and local wind conditions. A typical solar panel might require 4 - 6 hooks for proper support.

2. Flashing and Bracket Combinations

• Flashing: Flashing is used to create a waterproof seal around the mounting points. It is usually made of metal, such as galvanized steel or aluminum. When installing solar panels, the flashing is placed under and around the brackets that penetrate the tile layer slightly. This protects the roof from water infiltration, which could otherwise lead to leaks and damage to the roof structure over time.
• Brackets: L-foot or Z-foot brackets are commonly used in conjunction with flashing. These brackets attach to the roof rafters or trusses beneath the tiles. They are designed to support the weight of the solar panels and transfer it safely to the roof's structural elements. The brackets need to be carefully positioned and screwed or bolted in place to ensure a level and stable platform for the panels.

3. Integrated Mounting Systems

• All-in-One Design: Some manufacturers offer integrated mounting systems specifically tailored for tile roofs. These systems combine the functions of tile hooks, flashing, and panel support in one unit. They simplify the installation process, as installers don't have to piece together multiple components. An integrated system might come with pre-assembled modules that can be quickly attached to the tile roof, reducing installation time and potential errors.
• Compatibility: These systems are designed to be compatible with a wide range of tile types, from traditional clay tiles to modern concrete tiles. They often feature adjustable parts to account for differences in tile thickness, shape, and pitch of the roof.
